Editing The Past is a series created from the hundreds of photos in my personal collection of family photos dating back to 1960 (long before I was born). Each of the scenes depicted in these works are created by clipping parts from several photos and recreating a new scene.

Each piece in the Commentary series illustrates a single theme through photo manipulation. The titles are very important in these works, as each one is built whimsically around a word or phrase.

I get a lot of questions about these three pieces. Regardless of how they look, they are 100% digital. I used LOTS of photos of mold, rust, and paint all mixed together to achieve the effect of some of my real paintings.

A visual interpretation of how the artist's head feels when creativity is flowing. These are the good times, when there are more than enough ideas to choose from.

The Impressionists

As the title of this series suggests, these works were created in an Impressionistic style. However, The Impressionists are not paintings in the traditional sense. There is no real paint and no canvas. These are manipulated photographs of textures such as paint, rust, mold and bird droppings arranged to give only an impression of each subject.

Words and the possibility of their double meaning is a theme that runs through many of my pieces. For these works, it is the series title that is a play on words. These pieces are not only innocently mocking the style of the Impressionists, but are only impressions of real paintings as well.
